The Church of the Madonna delle Grazie in Auronzo di Cadore is located on a pre-existing site, a small chapel built in honor of Monte Ortone and built in 1738, it was a sign of peace between the towns of Auronzo di Cadore and Dobbiaco.
The Cadore and Auronzo areas are famous above all for the lakes, Lake Misurina, the lake of Auronzo di Cadore or Santa Caterina, near which there are also numerous Roman excavations.
During your active holiday in Cadore, you will also be able to see numerous peaks of the Dolomites, among the most famous we remember the Tre cime di Lavaredo, where the hotel Lavaredo rises at the foot, but then also the Cadini, the Corno del Doge and the Croda dei Toni, names really known to mountaineering experts.
And certainly we cannot forget the "Queen of the Dolomites" or the splendid Cortina d'Ampezzo, one of the most famous and renowned tourist areas of Italy, both for skiing and for social life, including luxury shopping but also ideal destination for summer and winter sports and for mountain bike excursions.
And on a quiet day during your holiday in Cadore, you can't miss a visit to the Eyewear Museum in Pieve di Cadore.
The first "Eyewear Exhibition Through the Ages" was set up right here in Pieve as far back as 1956, coinciding with the Winter Olympic Games, and then revived in 1959 at the University of Padua. On that occasion the curator, Enrico De Lotto, hoped for the establishment of a National Eyewear Museum in Cadore. This dream came true many years after his death, thanks above all to the commitment of Vittorio Tabacchi, president of SAFILO, a passionate collector of glasses, who took steps to acquire some important collections.
